[Air Station Port Angeles] - (Washington) - 3.5"wx3.9"h shield - Goose in leather flying helment and boots, holding an umbrella, walking in the rain. 2007- This patch is modeled after the first known Coast Guard patch, a leather patch made up in 1935 for the then new Port Angeles Air Station (PAAS). One must know what 'PAAS' stands for and that the unit is a Coast Guard unit. Nothing else on the patch hints that it is a Coast Guard patch. The original patch has no periods after the letters. A 'heritage' patch made up by an individual in 2005-6 has periods only after the first three letters! This patch, adopted by the unit (an official 'heritage' patch?), has a period after each of the four letters.
